Leadership Training Courses, Programs, and Materials
The challenge of leadership
The vast majority of people learn their leadership skills from the people they were surrounded by as they grew up: fathers, mothers, cousins, teachers, preachers, etc. Unfortunately, most of the people we grow up with in our environment, if scrutinized, would not stand out as a highly skilled leader. Many of them would say or do whatever they felt necessary to get the result they wanted including but not limited to: yelling at people, being sarcastic, name calling, sometimes even hitting.
Growing up with these people as examples of leaders, we determine those are the behaviors that get things done. They are the only leadership skills we know when we hit the workforce. At some point because we produced well using technical skills in the work place we, get promoted to a supervisory position and the only skills we have to use to lead are those we were taught growing up. The result is conflict, resistance, resentment, lost productivity, lack of team cohesion, etc.
Everyone knows you can get people to do things for you using fear and intimidation: yelling, being sarcastic, name calling, slamming doors, etc. Mainly because the leader holds authority over the ones they are using those behaviors with and fear of losing their job keeps they from all out defiance. Most would also agree that on a team with a leader who uses those negative behaviors, people do only what they have to not what they are capable of. In addition, if the leader is not at the work area most of the tie of the team members is spent talking with each other about what a ______ their leader is. Productivity is greatly reduced until the return of the leader and even then the leader must constantly push for performance since their tea doesn’t give it voluntarily.
Research shows the average leader spend from 40% to 60% of each day dealing with personnel and interpersonal issues. What most do not realize is those leadership skills they learned in their childhood and are using generate the majority of the conflict they experience. In their mind it is the people they work with that create the problem, as leaders, they are just doing what they were taught to do.
The Team Builder Leadership Institute difference
Most leadership courses and training organizations try to teach how to make people do what you want them to, how to get them to do the “right thing, what they are supposed to, what’s required, what the organization tells them to, etc.” In essence they teach the skills to make people do what you tell them regardless of what they actually want to do.
While this has been the accepted norm since the dawn of man and leadership, research shows that people are exponentially more productive when they are not doing what they have to but rather, what they want to. The research shows that when leaders adopt and use the skills that make people want to do what the organization needs instead of trying to make them, the level of performance they receive is greatly increased. In addition, because people are doing what they want to and are comfortable with their environment, the stress ad conflict also disappears allowing everyone to focus on required results instead of other’s behaviors.
At Team Builder Leadership Institute participants learn the fundamental skills that decades of research, experience, and success has proven creates teams who are committed to one another, like working together, are committed to the goals, and focus o us instead of I. These are known as self managed work teams, teams that give one hundred percent whether the leader is there or not. To these team members, it is not about the leader but rather, the group and the goals and they know their individual success comes from the success of the group.
The Team Builder Leadership Institute teaches leaders how to master these fundamentals through onsite training courses and programs, resource materials, and personal effectiveness coaching.

Instructor led onsite training programs
Team Builder Leadership Institute provides training programs tailored to the goals, objectives, and needs of each organization, whether the training program is needed of twelve people or twelve thousand. Team Builder Leadership Institute provides programs for single day, multiday, or ongoing culture changing programs that analyze, access, report, and realign an organization to its chosen direction. The goal of Team Builder Leadership Institute is always to produce the desired result, not just provide training. To that end the organization is always provided with professional guidance and follow-up activities that when followed produce lasting change and success.
Self paced individual or group intensive leadership development programs
Often organizations, due to limited time and resources, cannot provide the intensive leadership training required to develop leaders who can create self manage work teams. Recognizing this need, Team Builder Leadership Institute has developed leadership self development programs for individuals who want the ability to build highly cohesive, committed, productive and successful teams.
The program consists of an intensive and all inclusive training guide that takes the participant from the basic skills to the advanced skills developing the layers of knowledge necessary to become what we call at the Team Builder Leadership Institute, “A Team Builder.” That is, someone who can repeatedly and consistently change or build any tea into a self managed work team where all members are committed to and focused on the success ad goals of the team.
Through each chapter the participant reads the information, is led through multiple (2 to 4) exercises to teach and assimilate the information they were exposed to and develop the actual skill set. The program contains instructional video training and step by step audio training that provide the necessary foundation for each skill set for information acquisition and development. The program will take the committed individual about six months to complete (self paced).
The program is designed for a mentor to follow up with the employee after each chapter ad accompanying exercises to provide direction and feedback. Mentor notes and feedback topics are provided in the program materials in an accompanying guide that leads the mentor through helping the individual develop their team building leadership skills. This allows the mentor to assist the process and ensure success with minimum investment of time and effort.
Give your leaders the skills they need to succeed.
Organizational leadership succession planning
A corporate version of this leadership self development is also available allowing an organization to put in place a training process that ensures not just leaders will be available to ensure the future success of the organization but highly skilled ad successful leaders. It allows the organization to assess the commitment of the individual to skills development and their desire to accept the responsibility that accompanies a leadership position. It gives the organization the ability to monitor the progress, focus on challenges, and adjust the program to ensure a successful outcome and continued high quality leaders for the organization. Team Builder Leadership Institute provides a licensing agreement for organizations to make the leadership succession program permanent, affordable, and allow for the organization to include as many participants as they choose to.
